Many migratory birds that breed in the Palaearctic (the northern part of Eurasia) spend the winter in India. These migratory species typically begin to arrive in July/August and depart in March/April.

To participate in MigrantWatch, simply keep a regular watch for one or more migratory species in places where you live, work, or visit regularly, and note the dates of first and last sighting during the migration season. These dates can then be entered through your MigrantWatch online account (please create an account if you don't already have one). If you don't have access to the internet (or know of a potential participant who doesn't), please use this printable PDF form and mail it to us.

If you would like to go beyond recording only first and last sighting dates, you can do so by keeping a detailed day-by-day record of sightings of migrant birds. Please contact us if you would like to do this; we can advise you on several potential ways in which you can maintain detailed records.
